Your Right to Data Deletion
We respect your privacy and your right to have your personal data deleted. This page explains how you can request the deletion of your data from Wave.
How to Delete Your Account and Data
Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)
- Open the Wave app on your device
- Go to Profile → Settings
- Tap on "Delete Account"
- Confirm your decision by entering your password
- Your account and data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
Option 2: Email Request
You can also request data deletion by emailing us:
- Send an email to datadeletion@wave.app
- Include your registered email address and username
- Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
- We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days
⚠️ Important Information
- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- You will lose access to all your coins, messages, and connections
- Your profile will no longer be visible to other users
- Any active subscriptions will be cancelled
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you request data deletion, we will remove:
- Your profile information (name, photo, bio, etc.)
- Your email address and authentication credentials
- Your message history
- Your call history
- Your coins and virtual items
- Your preferences and settings
- Your device and usage data
Data Retention
For legal and security purposes, we may retain certain information even after account deletion:
- Transaction records: Kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes
- Security logs: Kept for 90 days to prevent fraud and abuse
- Legal compliance data: Retained as required by applicable laws
Third-Party Data
Please note that deleting your Wave account does not automatically delete data held by third-party services:
- Google/Apple: Your app store purchase history is managed by Google/Apple
- Ad Networks: Advertising data may be retained by our ad partners
- Analytics: Anonymized analytics data may be retained
To delete data from these services, please contact them directly.
Processing Time
Data deletion requests are typically processed within:
- Immediate: Profile hidden from other users
- 7 days: Messages and chat history deleted
- 30 days: Complete account and data deletion
