- Be cautious about sharing your phone number or social media handles
- Use a unique username that doesn't reveal your identity
Trust Your Instincts
- If someone makes you uncomfortable, end the call immediately
- Don't feel pressured to continue conversations you don't enjoy
- Be wary of users who ask for personal information too quickly
- If something feels wrong, it probably is - trust your gut
Keep Conversations Appropriate
- Remember that video calls are live - act as you would in public
- Don't engage in or respond to inappropriate requests
- Report users who violate our community guidelines
- Block users who make you feel uncomfortable
Online to Offline Safety
If you decide to meet someone from Wave in person:
- Always meet in a public place with other people around
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going
- Arrange your own transportation
- Keep your phone charged and with you
- Trust your instincts - leave if you feel uncomfortable
⚠️ Red Flags to Watch For
- Asking for money or financial help
- Requesting explicit photos or videos
- Pressuring you to move to other platforms quickly
- Refusing to show their face on video
- Making threats or using intimidation
- Sharing your personal information without consent
Report a Problem
If you encounter inappropriate behavior, harassment, or any violation of our community guidelines, please report it immediately. Our moderation team is available 24/7 to review reports and take action.
During a video call: Tap the flag icon to report the user instantly
From a profile: Tap the three dots menu and select "Report"

Parental Guidance
For Parents and Guardians
Wave is designed for users 18 and older. If you're concerned about a minor using our app:
- Talk to your child about online safety
- Monitor their app usage and screen time
- Enable parental controls on their device
- Report underage users to us at safety@wave.app
